DENVER, Colorado – The recent storm in Colorado finally brought some major snowfall to the Front Range resorts. With multiple closures along I-70, some of these resorts sat unopened throughout, allowing a collection of untouched powder for guests this morning.

Along Loveland Pass, both Loveland Ski Area and Arapahoe Basin sat closed on Thursday, March 14. Loveland reports a 48 hour snow total of 19 inches, while Arapahoe Basin collected a little less with 18″. Meanwhile at Eldora, which didn’t open again until Friday afternoon, has collected an enormous 48 inches.

Winter Park is the only other mountain to report well over a foot of snow from the storm, also receiving 19 inches in the past 48 hours. Breckenridge is the last to receive over a foot, getting a healthy 13″. Keystone reported a 10 inch snowfall while Copper reports at just 8″.

Further down I-70, the storm did little damage. Both Vail and Beaver Creek are reporting just five inches from the recent storm. It’s clear that the foothills and early Front Range mountains were the winners.

According to 9News, Aspen Springs, near Central City, reached over five feet, totaling out at 61.5 inches of snowfall. Nederland, closer to Eldora, sat at 53 inches, while Genesee measured a little above 45 inches.

Areas surrounding Denver were much closer to just a foot, with East Denver receiving ten inches, North West Denver receiving 8 inches, and Denver International Airport receiving 5.7. Don’t let any of these numbers fool you. With Central City’s proximity to I-70, it’s not hard to tell that the highway was closed for a very, very good reason.
