SNOWBIRD BOLSTERS RESORT LEADERSHIP WITH NEW HIRES

Experienced Industry Professionals Will Fill the Roles of Senior Director of Information Technology Operations, Senior Director of Lodging, and Senior Director of Resort Guest Services.

Snowbird, Utah, March 13, 2024 – Snowbird has announced the hiring of three key positions on the mountain’s Resort Leadership Team with the appointment of Matt Strangis as the Senior Director of Information Technology Operations and the promotion of Josh Pelczar as the Senior Director of Lodging. Levi Thorn, who previously held the Senior Director of Lodging title, now serves as Senior Director of Resort Guest Services. Strangis, Pelczar, and Thorn all bring an abundance of industry experience to Snowbird and are expected to lead the resort’s success in their individual divisions and as a whole.

“Matt, Josh, and Levi will be instrumental in making resort-wide decisions and changes alongside the rest of our Resort Leadership Team in the years to come,” said Snowbird President and General Manager Dave Fields. “I am confident their experiences at POWDR and Snowbird, respectively, along with their passion for skiing and the guest experience, will position them to excel in their new roles.”

Strangis, originally from Minnesota, comes to Snowbird with a degree in Management Information Systems from St. Cloud State University and extensive technology operations experience. Prior to his new role at Snowbird, Strangis served as POWDR’s Senior Director of Technology Operations where he oversaw developments across the portfolio, including at Snowbird. Prior to his position at POWDR, Strangis played an instrumental role at several leading organizations in the technology industry, including Deloitte and Microsoft. As the Senior Director of Information Technology Operations at Snowbird, Strangis will lead the technology operations team across their primary areas of focus—network and system infrastructure, services and business solutions.

Pelczar was born and raised in Montana, where he earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Montana and held several roles at Big Sky Resort in owner services, accounting and sales before coming to Snowbird, where he most recently served as the Director of Group Sales. He brings invaluable insights and institutional knowledge of resort operations to a role that plays a pivotal impact on the guest experience. He will help to spearhead sales strategies, lead lodging enhancements and provide key insight on revenue management. In his new role, Pelczar will oversee Snowbird’s four lodging properties, The Cliff Spa, Central Reservations, Revenue Management and Group Sales.

Thorn, born and raised in Illinois, joined Snowbird in 2020 as the Senior Director of Lodging. He first began working in the ski industry as a ski instructor at Chestnut Mountain Resort while attending Western Illinois University, where he earned a dual major in Recreation, Parks & Tourism, and Biomechanics. Prior to joining Snowbird, he gained extensive knowledge in the lodging industry, most recently working as General Manager of the Park City DoubleTree by Hilton. As Senior Director of Resort Guest Services, Levi oversees Lift Media and Tickets, Retail and Rentals, Mountain School, Snowbird Mountain Guides, Mountain Hosts, and Powderbird.

Strangis, Pelczar, and Thorn will usher Snowbird forward as it continually strives to enhance the guest experience with cutting-edge technology and experiences. Their combined expertise signals an exciting era for leadership at Snowbird as it looks toward the future.
