Sugarloaf Mountain, Maine– You’ll hear quite a few commentators use the phrase that a sport like football or soccer is a “game of inches.” It turns out that skiing can go by the same metric.

In a February 3rd video from YouTuber Winnipeg Bacon, his friend is seen bombing down a trail at Sugarloaf. According to the YouTuber, his friend hit an ice rock (also known as a death cookie) while blasting down the hill, resulting in the skier losing control. The result is an extremely close call, as his head nearly hits a snowmaking gun. Ultimately, the only injury he got was a large bruise from his knee to the hip.

We’re glad to hear he’s doing better after that brutal crash. The moral of the story is if you’re skiing fast during firm conditions, a small object can result in a brutal crash.
