Colorado’s I-70 is a perilous roadway. Huge trucks, tourists who have no idea how to drive in snow, and locals with unregistered two-wheel-drive crud mobiles all converge on a busy mountain road often covered with layers of snow and muck. One slip up from any of those people, and the road is closed for hours. Have you ever seen one of these accidents and thought, “man, I wonder who’s going to have to clean all that up?” Well wonder no more!

A new docuseries based on just that is set to come to The Weather Channel in the Fall of this year. From Thunderbird Entertainment’s Great Pacific Media (GPM), Rocky Mountain Wreckers will follow four heavy wrecking companies based around some of the deadliest highways in the United States. According to Business Wire, the show will feature a company in Utah, Wyoming, and two in Colorado.

Rocky Mountain Wreckers captures the real peril and drama inherent in some of the most dangerous jobs in the world, set amongst some of America’s most breathtaking landscapes. Not only do the companies we follow do some of the most challenging and unbelievable recoveries, but the series’ documentary subjects are also immensely entertaining and will make for great television.” – David Way, President of GPM

Mountain Recovery out of Vail, CO, is based around I-70, while Reliable Towing is based around I-25 out of Longmont. Scenes featuring West Haven, Utah’s Stauffer’s Towing & Recovery will likely take place along I-15, while Big Al’s Towing in Cheyenne, Wyoming, sits right around the junction of both I-80 and I-25.

Rocky Mountain Wreckers follows the lives of five wrecking crews who brave extreme weather conditions just doing their daily jobs. One wrong turn can mean a business catastrophe – or even prove fatal. This series will be a great addition to our primetime line-up as it combines high-stakes excitement, adventure and weather stories that our viewers expect to see on The Weather Channel.” – Nora Zimmett, President, News and Original Series with The Weather Group

I am amped to see this show. You usually don’t actually think of the people who clean up the highway when you’re stuck in a massive traffic jam. Maybe this show will help people calm down a bit when they’re stuck on I-70, both in traffic and while ripping along the highway.
