32-year-old French skier Alexis Pinturault was airlifted to hospital after taking a nasty slam this morning in the World Cup Super G race at Wengen, Switzerland. Pinturault was a bit off-balance when he launched the Silberhornsprung jump resulting in a crash.

Olympics.com reports Pinturault remained motionless on the course as marshals and medical staff attended to him. After a lengthy delay, a helicopter arrived to take him to hospital. Racing eventually resuming 30 miutes later.

The French Ski Federation issued this statement on his condition:

“After a fall during the Wengen Super G, Alexis Pinturault suffered a left knee (injury) and has pain in his wrist. He was airlifted to Interlaken to undergo examination. He did not lose consciousness.”

Wishing Alexis a speedy recovery and want to wish him and his wife Romane a congratulations as the welcomed their first child last Saturday. Toutes nos félicitations.
