“At approximately 9:30am today at Palisades Tahoe, an avalanche occurred on the Palisades side, specifically above the GS gully area of KT-22. Our Patrol and mountain operations teams are performing a search at this time. Both sides of our mountain will be closed for the day.”
Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort is closed for the day after an inbounds avalanche occurred on KT-22. No official reports as of yet, but here are videos and pictures from what appears to be an avalanche burial today at the Lake Tahoe resort. As stated in a Facebook post by Chris Ernst, “at least 3 buried and found.” We will stay on top of this developing story and keep you posted with updates.
“AVALANCHES Happen IN bounds. Just a reminder to ski with a buddy and a beacon, and probe poles if possible. Thank You Everyone for your life saving skills. His name is Jason, and by the grace of God he is alive! This happened on East Side of KT22 at approx 9:35am and a plethora of people helped with 2 different slides that were thick and rapid. At least 3 buried and FOUND.” –Chris Ernst
