Snowbasin’s Christmas gifts to guests came six days early.

On Tuesday, December 19th, Snowbasin Resort in Utah unveiled the DeMoisy Express. The new high-speed six-pack chairlift from Leitner-Poma is a game changer for Snowbasin Resort. With an uphill capacity of 2400 people per hour, it helps reduce a critical congestion point on the mountain. In addition, with it being placed under DeMoisy Peak, it gives the lift better protection against wind holds compared to the Strawberry Gondola. The chairlift has a ride time of ten minutes.

This Tuesday also saw the opening of the Strawberry Patio. Located around the northwest portion of Strawberry Lodge, the over 5,000-square-foot outdoor space includes fire pits, seating, and three separate dining outlets. Having a cheesesteak after getting my quads burnt by Snowbasin’s nearly 3000-foot vertical drop does sound nice.

Other improvements include 124 new parking spaces in Canyon Rim and fourteen new world-class bathroom stalls in the Grizzly Center.

Currently, Snowbasin has 92 trails and 10 lifts open. Some minor snowstorms are in the forecast for Utah, so let’s hope they can start to build up the snowpack.
