Frightening first day up in Alaska for Karl Fostvedt as came to the bottom of his line only to look up and watch his buddy disappear down a crack. Karl quickly covered the 100 meter steep uphill hike to the spot where his buddy went missing and managed to dig out the snowboarder who was trapped upside down. He describes it as “the most gut wrenching scary moment of my whole life.” After the harrowing incident, Karl sought out further education to expand his skills in big mountain terrain.
