Tense moments caught on camera as man walking his dogs in Anchorage, Alaska encountered a moose while trying to get to his car. What is particularily distressing about the video is moose often react dogs the same way they would to predatory wolves, by trying to crush them with their hooves.
Luckily the moose did not attack and the trio made it back to the vehicle safely. Excellent reminder to anyone traveling in moose country to keep your dogs on leash at all times. Remember folks, if you’re sharing the landscape with moose always keep dogs on a leash or consider leaving the dog at home.
“I was returning from a walk with my dogs and a moose was standing right at the trailhead where we had to pass. I waited for awhile then finally decided to tiptoe past and he started to come towards me. One of my dogs saw this and barked angrily and came towards the moose who then diverted his attention from me to the dog and I backed away towards my car. Soon the dogs got past the moose and we were on our way.”
