Lake Oroville, located north of Sacramento, is an important water reservoir for million of people.

The lake looked nearly depleted back on December 1st 2022, but this winter’s productive snowstorms have raised water levels by 180 feet!

Officials estimate that the lake’s water level will continue to rise thanks to the atmospheric rivers dumping loads of moisture across the state.

To prepare, they damn is actually releasing water through a spillway so that the lake doesn’t overflow. It’s the first time they’ve done so in 4 years.
