Hermann Maier was a heavy favorite to sweep the 1998 Nagano Olympics with Gold Medals across the board.
The Austrian became known as the ‘Herminator’ thanks to fellow countryman’s Arnold Schwarzenegger’s role in ‘The Terminator’, and the world was expecting Maier to dominate.
Unfortunately, Maier suffered a brutal crash in the Downhill that probably would have ended the Olympics for most competitors.
Then, three days later, Maier unleashed a dominant performance in the Super-G, and secured a Gold Medal.
Check out the incredible story in the video below:

How? How can somebody crash that hard and be okay?!
Even more, how could he be okay enough to win a Gold Medal just three days later?!
What a legend.
Maier finished his legendary career with 2 Olympic Gold Medals ( plus 1 Silver, & 1 Bronze), 3 World Championships, and 54 World Cups wins.
