YouTube channel Half as Interesting provides a breakdown as to why the hermit kingdom of North Korea has a ski resort.

As you can probably guess, it has something to do with the country’s ongoing competition with their neighbors to the south.

Check out Masikryong Ski Resort’s stats before you watch the video below:

Top Elevation: 4,460 ft.

Base Elevation: 2,520 ft.

Vertical: 1,940 ft.

Runs: 9

Lifts: 8

Is it bad that I kind of want to go to North Korea to ski?

I’m very fearful that I’ll be locked in prison for the rest of my life for taking a picture of something that I’m not supposed to, but being able to say I skied in North Korea would be kind of badass…

It will never happen, but it’s fun to imagine what could be.
