The first half of the winter season in Utah’s Little Cottonwood Canyon has been one to remember.

Snowbird and Alta are both reporting over 400 inches of snow thus far, and it doesn’t appear that there’s an end in sight.

University of Utah professor Jim Steenburgh (@ProfessorPowder) went up into Little Cottonwood Canyon earlier today to test how deep the snowpack is.

SPOILER: IT’S FRICKEN DEEP.

The fact that LCC has more than 125 inches on the ground at the tail end of January is absolutely bonkers.

Here’s hoping it keeps on snowing. Salt Lake City and the surrounding areas need all the water they can get to pull them out of a historic drought.
