Avalanche Canada has posted the video below to warn skiers and riders about the current risk of avalanches throughout BC and Alberta.

“This deep persistent slab avalanche was triggered by an explosive, but it’s a good demonstration of the problem we’re worried about in many areas.

Deep persistent and persistent slab avalanche problems are unpredictable and likely to produce very large avalanches.”

Avalanche Canada does not specify where this avalanche was triggered.

As of January 22, 2023- Avalanche Canada is reporting that the avalanche risk is ‘3-Considerable’, and ‘2-Moderate’ across the majority of zones.
