A huge sinkhole has reportedly broken open near the Russian ski resort of Sheregesh (known as Gesh by locals). It’s over 100-feet-wide.

The sinkhole is above a mine that is partially owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. The Oligarch is one of many sanctioned by the US in regards to the war in Ukraine.

Officials predicted the sinkhole would collapse as multiple homes were evacuated before the damage was done.
