What in the actual hell is going on this year out west?

Utah has been getting slammed with storm after storm since the end of October, and ol’ Mother Nature doesn’t show any signs of letting up.
Alta Ski Area has seen 19 inches fall over the last three days, and OpenSnow is forecasting an additional 27 inches to fall before the weekend is over.
Just in case you haven’t been keeping track, Alta has recorded 123 inches of snow already this season.
That’s more than pretty much every Midwestern, Mid-Atlantic, and southern New England ski area averages throughout an entire season. I guess they have a pretty good case when they call it ‘The Greatest Snow on Earth’.
The Alta faithful were getting after it yesterday. Take a look at some of the best photos and videos shared online of the powder skiing fun.
Helluva morning at THE @AltaSkiArea! I definitely didn’t ski any snow this deep all of last year. The last turn, and @adambagelboy ‘s noise, are more representative of what the actual conditions were like all morning. #nuketown pic.twitter.com/eOAd2BWiwr

I sometimes find it comforting to pretend that Utah isn’t a real place and that all powder skiing videos I see posted online are just a sick and twisted figment of my imagination.
It makes it a little bit easier to stomach the fact that I’m not there skiing all of that fresh and glorious pow.
