Whether you like it or not, ski bikes are gaining popularity across the world. Tons of ski resorts and ski areas across the country already allow them on their slopes, easily making them the quickest growing trend in snow sports, and it can be difficult to go a whole day on the slopes without seeing a group of people sitting down while heading downhill. The next evolution in the product, however, is already here.

The MoonBike is a 100% electric snowbike, and it’s already hitting some European ski slopes. In the Austrian state of Tyrol, four ski resorts are set to make the quiet gadgets available. To be clear, they won’t be able to be used on normal trials, rather sticking to designated areas or guided trails.

“You need just 5 minutes until you get used to the snowbike, then you accustom yourself and soon you get smart – like on a motorbike, you must lie down in the curves, and more you lie down more you have fun and find stability.” – Mario Bicocchi, owner of a rental company in Flirsch, Austria, according to Euronews.

The MoonBike can reach speeds of up to 26 mph, has a max torque of 160 Nm, and can run on one charge for up to 3 hours. Currently, it starts at $8,900, and it’s available in three colors; black, white, and red. For an extra $1,900, it comes with an extra battery, and for an extra $180, they’ll include a luggage rack with an elastic net.

Will this replace the normal ski bike? No. Will it ever be allowed on ski resorts? Hopefully not. It does seem like a lot of fun, though, and I could see it being used for some backcountry ski outings or just general winter adventures.
