Sunday River’s got a need… a need for speed.  Throughout this summer, the Maine ski resort has been replacing the Jordan Express chairlift with a detachable eight-pack bubble chairlift. This week, Sunday River released a video of a helicopter crew putting the lift towers into their permanent position. With the lift coming into place, Sunday River is well on its way to having the Jordan 8 ready for the 2022-23 season.

The Doppelmayr D-Line bubble lift will be the fastest eight-person chairlift in North America. Some of the other features will include heated seats and the first weather-blocking bubbles in the world. One of the main purposes of the new lift is to withstand wind, which has been a problem in the past for the Jordan Bowl.

Sunday River will also be opening up Merrill Hill to the public this winter, which is a terrain expansion that was developed last year. I’ve never been to Sunday River, but these projects sound like it’s a great time to visit this upcoming winter.
