Florida Governor Ron DeSantis orchestrated a political stunt a couple of weeks ago in which he allegedly coerced migrants to catch a flight to Martha’s Vineyard, MA.

The migrants were told that jobs and housing would be available, which was obviously untrue. Martha’s Vineyard wasn’t prepared, and had no way of knowing that the migrants were coming.

Thankfully, the community responded by helping out with food, water, and shelter.

Now, as reported by 9News, Colorado ski towns like Vail, Aspen, and Breckenridge are preparing in case the same political stunt is levied against them.

Here’s an excerpt from the story posted by 9News on how the counties would respond:

We would just focus on dealing with an emergency,” said Summit County Communications Director David Rossi about the county’s plans. “Likely an approach not too different from a wildfire where you have individuals and families who are displaced.”

Rossi said the county will rely on community partners like the Family and Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC) in the event of a migrant relocation to Summit County.

“I have all the faith in the world that if this were to happen, we could handle it,” FIRC Executive Director Brianne Snow said. “We have a really great community that steps up in times of need.”

I won’t get political because that’s not what we do here at Unofficial Networks. However, I will say this-

Treating migrants looking for a better life in America as pawns in a political game of chess is despicable. That’s all I need to say.

One last thing- the fact that these towns have to proactively prepare in case the governor of Texas or Florida decides to send migrants to them is absolutely absurd. Just think about that for a moment. Disgusting.

You can probably guess where I stand on this issue…
