Idaho’s wildfires picked up in earnest late in August. The Patrol Point fire was ignited naturally by lightning and allowed to run with only structure protection in place.

Four kayakers from Idaho and California decided to run the Main Salmon early in September and came across an entire hillside ablaze—the heat from the wildfire could be felt from the rivers edge!

Falling trees, rocks, and thick smoke were the hazards needing to be aware of, otherwise, the fire made for an amazing experience to witness firsthand.
