Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue (CKFR) successfully rescued a Washington couple who fell off a 60 foot embankment attempting to reach their dog around 1 p.m. on June 1st. The woman was assisted first, lowered down the rest of the embankment with the assistance of the rescue crew, while the husband was stuck around half way down the drop.

Firefighters rigged a system to lower rescuers down the embankment while CKFR flew drones in order to get the best possible view of the situation. The man was successfully lowered down the rest of the embankment, and neither the husband nor the wife sustained any injuries. Unfortunately, the couple’s dog did not survive.

Praises to CKFR for the good work, and though it may not have been the safest idea in the world, praises to the couple for putting their lives in danger in an attempt to save their furry friend. Stories like this hurt when the dog doesn’t make it, but the two individuals are heroes for trying.
