One of North Conway’s most popular hotels suffered a catastrophe over the weekend. WMUR reports that the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort in North Conway, New Hampshire endured a severe fire on Saturday. What started the fire is unclear and is currently being investigated by authorities. The wing of the hotel where the fire occurred had no sprinkler system in it, causing the fire to rapidly spread.  A large amount of the guest rooms caught on fire, with 75 rooms being completely destroyed. Other parts of the hotel saw no structural destruction but sustained smoke and water damage. Several guests had to jump off their balconies, which resulted in a couple of injuries. A few firefighters had to go to the hospital as well for heat-related exhaustion and fatigue but were released shortly afterward.May be an image of 5 people, people standing, people walking and outdoors The Red Jacket is mostly known for the Kahuna Laguna Water Park, a 40,000 square-foot indoor facility that features waterslides, a wave pool, a pool with basketball hoops, an outdoor pool, and more. This part of the hotel was unaffected by the fire. The hotel announced that the hotel and water park will be closed through at least the month of May, and would be reaching out to customers to find alternative accommodations. With the summer season fast approaching, a major amount of revenue will be lost for the Red Jacket Resort. I imagine they have property insurance though, so that segment will be rebuilt.
