The weather window for road work on Vail Pass is short so the folks at CDOT are prepped and ready to begin a series of safety improvements on the section of 1-70 between Copper Mountain and Vail.  This stretch of highway has the highest accident rate of all of 1-70 in Colorado. Over the next three summers, CDOT plans on realigning westbound 1-70, adding a new eastbound lane and replacing two bridges. If you frequent Vail Pass in the summer expect delays but hopefully the inconvenience will result in smoother passage come ski season🤞
