Another year, another new lift for Beech Mountain Resort in North Carolina. The ski resort announced Tuesday that they will be replacing Lift 1 (a fixed-grip double chair) with a Doppelmayr fixed-grip quad with a loading conveyor. Lift 1 services beginner, intermediate, and advanced terrain. According to Ski Southeast, it will be their third Doppelmayr lift in the past four years.

Other major improvements are also planned for the mountain. The current location of their terrain park will be moved to a “new enhanced park located in Powder Bowl and a progression park in the Meadows.” The old terrain park will be converted to a beginner trail called Golden Child, and a new carpet conveyer lift will be added to service this run. Their snow tubing operations will be getting a new all-weather snowmaking system, which allows them to extend their season. Latitude 90, the snowmaking system, “is an enclosed snowmaking system that withstands ambient temperatures, winds, and humidity.” Ten new SMI automated fan guns are also being added as a multi-year snowmaking enhancement project. After these additions, Beech Mountain will have 93 fan guns and a ski resort that continues to modernize. Image Credits: Beech Mountain Resort
