The video below is a compilation of trail cam footage showing wild mountain lions (or cougars) making a chirping sound. The sound is believed to be a form of communication with other mountain lions in the area.

I had no idea that cougars make this bird-like noise. It’s almost kind of eerie to think how many times I’ve heard similar sounds while hiking in the mountains.

Was it just a bird, or was a mountain lion nearby?ย  I guess I’ll never truly know…
