How sick must it be to work avalanche control for the Utah Department of Transportation? Sure, there’s the impending risks of working in avalanche-prone terrain, but you can’t tell me you wouldn’t enjoy shooting an artillery cannon at a mountain to trigger avalanches.
My adrenaline is through the roof just watching this video. With that being said… can anybody get me a contact at UDOT? I need, and I mean need, to witness this kind of work in person someday.
Enjoy the video!
💥 UDOT shows off one of it howitzers, which it uses to trigger avalanches near state roads in avalanche-prone areas.
“Deploying howitzers is one way we purposefully trigger an avalanche in a controlled time and setting in order to prevent avalanches on a larger scale.” pic.twitter.com/hKwZlxGelT
