How sick must it be to work avalanche control for the Utah Department of Transportation? Sure, there’s the impending risks of working in avalanche-prone terrain, but you can’t tell me you wouldn’t enjoy shooting an artillery cannon at a mountain to trigger avalanches.
My adrenaline is through the roof just watching this video. With that being said… can anybody get me a contact at UDOT? I need, and I mean need, to witness this kind of work in person someday.
Enjoy the video!
๐ฅ UDOT shows off one of it howitzers, which it uses to trigger avalanches near state roads in avalanche-prone areas.
โDeploying howitzers is one way we purposefully trigger an avalanche in a controlled time and setting in order to prevent avalanches on a larger scale.โ pic.twitter.com/hKwZlxGelT
