Gangkar Puensum is considered to be the highest mountain to have never been successfully summited in the world. The mountain stands 24,840′, significantly less than the world’s tallest mountain Mt. Everest, but a variety of reasons have kept people from successfully reaching the summit.

Gangkar Puensum lies on the border between Bhutan and Tibet in the Himalayan Mountains. It has a 9,826′ prominence.

The video below from Half as Interesting is a little bit goofy, but it provides explanations as to why nobody has ever reached Gangkar Puensum’s summit, and probably never will. Kind of crazy to think that there’s a mountain peak right here on earth that no man has ever set foot on.
