Have you ever watched a Planet Earth clip and wondered how in the hell they get so lucky with capturing the insane footage? Well, I imagine these cyclists traveling in Banff National Park near Lake Louise felt as lucky.

They were crossing a bridge when they noticed that a wolf had injured an elk calf below. The calf was able to escape and started swimming away up river. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a huge grizzly bear starts chasing the floating elk calf down the river.

The absolute insanity of the moment isn’t lost on the observers, either. I love how they’re freaking out watching the wildlife even unfold. That’s exactly what my friends and I would have done if we bore witness to such a wild event.

No idea if the bear caught up to the elk calf, but I have to imagine that it didn’t end well for the little guy. That bear seemed determine to eat elk for dinner that evening…

Ilya K: “When the video starts the baby elk is about to be wounded by the wolf but gets away and some distance. Soon after hearing the baby Elk crying the grizzly bear decides to go after the baby elk and no regard for eloquence or the wolf. At the end of the video the elk gains some distance but ends up on shore with wolf waiting on the train tracks and the grizzly bear eventually catching up. Not sure exactly who wins but its definitely not the elk.
