Utah Avalanche Experts Urge Caution After Storms Beckon Folks To The Backcountry

“Slamming into one of the obstacles can end your season just like that.” –Utah Avalanche Center’s Craig Gordon

With a fresh coat of early season snow in the mountains of Utah, skiers and snowboarders are flocking to the hills but avalanche experts want to urge caution and remind backcountry visitors to take proper precautions. Craig Gordon of the Utah Avalanche Center warns the structural integrity of that snow is going to become weak and sugary, and it’s going to be a bad foundation for more storms to come. Also obstacles covered by the new snow could pose potential risk (face shots & base shots). Conditions are always changing, so you’ll want to check current avalanche conditions before you head out at utahavalanchecenter.org. Have fun, Be safe.
