Lenin Peak. By: Nihongarden

It’s not too often that we see avalanche videos this time of year, but I guess anything is possible when you’re climbing a 23,406′ mountain in Central Asia. Including huge summer avalanches.

The video below was filmed on July 15th, 2021 on Lenin Peak on the border of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The description says that nobody was injured, and that “only dust” reached the group in the avalanche’s path.

I don’t want to be a negative Nancy this Friday morning, but I just have to ask- Why in the hell did that group not try to escape the avalanche’s path?

Maybe they assumed that only light snow would reach them, and thank god they were right, but who in their right mind would take that risk?

I have so many questions, but I doubt any of them can be answered. Guess we just gotta take this guy’s word that everybody made it out safely.
