“DON’T PET THE FLUFFY COWS” is a saying that needs to gain traction in our common vernacular.

Why do tourists keep approaching bison believing that they’re ‘Bison Whisperers’ and that they won’t get injured? Do they legitimately think that wild bison are friendly towards humans?

I don’t know the answer, but this certainly isn’t the first time we’ve seen something like this happen, and it won’t be the last. People just can’t resist themselves. They feel like they have to walk as close as possible to a 2,000 lb. animal so that they can get that perfect shot for the ‘gram.

We usually see this kind of reckless behavior at Yellowstone National Park, but the video below is from Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma.
