“New ideas and applications have been developed to “land” sports. The goal: use this wing concept inflated to extend the ski jumping and snowboarding”

It looks like something out of a Wily Coyote cartoon but I assure you the Woopy-Jump was once a real product (website now defunct).  Good luck finding a used one online.

From the looks of video, I don’t think these things will ever be allowed to coexist with terrestrial skiers at American resorts (but it looks like they’re allowed at Veribier), so Woopy-Jumpers will have to stick to the backcountry in the land of the free.

“Since 1995, Laurent de Kalbermatten experimenting with inflation systems of all types of sails in order to obtain the lightest flying machine and the least cumbersome possible.   With Woopy-Fly concept and blowers inflation system, we actually approach the goal. Hundreds of flights performed both in free flight in motorized version, and load testing, high speed and intense computer simulation sessions allowed Laurent de Kalbermatten to validate the concept. Meanwhile, with the invaluable support of its test pilot Guy Bertrand Jaquier, new ideas and applications have been developed to “land” sports. The goal: use this wing concept inflated to extend the ski jumping and snowboarding”
