Gabrielle Petito and Brian Laundrie departed Florida in July in their camper van. The engaged couple, both in their 20s, planned to travel cross country and stop at national parks and places of interest on the way. Unfortunately, they are now the subject of a suspicious disappearance.

According to News 4 Jax, the couple headed out west with the intention of reaching Oregon by Halloween. Petito and Laundrie documented their travels on a Youtube Channel.

On August 12, the two were stopped by police in Moab, Utah after a domestic dispute. A police bodycam video shows this interaction. Apparently, the two had been arguing about the cleanliness of the van and Petito has self-proclaimed OCD about cleaning procedures. In addition, she stated the two had been fighting over “personal issues”. According to an article in the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Petito was seen to be the aggressor in this matter. No charges were filed but the two were separated for the evening. Gabrielle Petito stayed in the van while Brian Laundrie got a room at a motel.

On September 1, Brian Laundrie returned to Florida with the camper van. Alone. The last communication between Gabrielle Petito and her parents occurred in “late August” when the couple was at Grand Teton National Park. She has not been seen or heard from since.

Brian Laundrie is considered a person of interest in the investigation and he is not talking to the police. He has not been charged with any crimes. Gabby Petito’s family and their attorney have appealed to Laundrie’s parents to try to get him to talk. Regardless of what transpired, he has information that could help locate Petito.
