Great news for everyone hoping to ski or ride South Lake in coming months as Sierra-at-Tahoe, Heavenly and Kirkwood are optimistic that they’ll be up and running for the 2021/2022 ski season after the Caldor Fire burned through the area.
Sierra-at-Tahoe faced the most danger during the wildfires but thankfully the ski resort did not suffer any major damage. Officials credit crews clearing dry brush and trees during the summer, the use of snow-making machines to wet down buildings and MOST OF ALL the incredible work of all the brave firefighters that fought the blaze. Sierra-at-Tahoe officials hope to get back on site later this week for a full inspection.
