Cian McLaughlin was reported missing after he didn’t show up for work on June 13th. Officials say he was last seen in Grand Teton National Park on June 8th at the Lupine Meadows Trailhead.

Search and rescue teams have been working daily to find McLaughlin using helicopters, ground crews, and large search parties since he was first reported missing nearly a month ago.

Now, according to Q2, Grand Teton National Park has stated that they’re scaling back their efforts to balance the risk taken on by searchers to find him.

The park staff is still monitoring the backcountry and giving posters to all backcountry hikers of a picture of McLaughlin, but the daily helicopter operations and search parties will cease.

I’ve been following this case closely since it was reported last month, and it’s disheartening to see it slowly come to a close without finding McLaughlin alive and well. I’m still hoping for the best, and my thoughts and condolences are with McLaughlin’s friends and family.
