If you have an HBO/HBO Max account, you’re going to want to watch this when it comes out on July 18’th. 100 Foot Wave is a six-part documentary that will detail Surfing legend Garrett McNamara’s journey towards riding a hundred-foot wave, and the trials and tribulations that come along with this seemingly impossible goal. In order to accomplish this, Garrett McNamara travels to Nazaré, Portugal, which features some of the most legendary yet dangerous waves on the planet:

“The six-part series intimately captures the decade-long odyssey of surfing pioneer Garrett McNamara, who, after visiting Nazaré, Portugal in hopes of conquering a 100-foot wave, pushed the sport to ever-greater heights and alongside locals helped transform the small fishing village into the world’s pre-eminent big-wave surfing destination.

The docuseries is directed and executive produced by award-winning filmmaker Chris Smith and executive produced by Emmy®- and Golden Globe®-winners Joe Lewis, Maria Zuckerman, Ryan Heller, and Michael Bloom.”
