As work continues on the Steamboat Base Village, the resort has created a new website detailing a massive development plan for the next couple of years. Currently, the base village is undergoing a major renovation and expansion. After that, a new gondola will be constructed to the summit and a new terrain/lift expansion into Pioneer Ridge.

The plan will go through as follows, barring any setbacks…

  • This Summer: Demolition of the Gondola and Snowsports Building, Relocation of the Steamboat Gondola base terminal, Base Area features installed(including escalators), and the grading of the Greenhorn Ranch learning terrain.
  • 2021-22 Ski Season: Opening the Kids Vacation Center and completing the Underplaza Promenade Building.
  • Summer of 2022: The new Arrival Center opens, relocation of the Christie Peaks Express Chairlift base terminal, new shops and restaurants built, the installation of the Greenhorn Ranch Magic Carpet and Lunch Center, and the construction of the Wild Blue Gondola.
  • 2022-23 Winter: The Wild Blue Gondola, Ice Rink, and Greenhorn Ranch Learning center open.
  • Summer of 2023: Clearing happens for the trails and glades of Pioneer Ridge/Fish Creek Canyon, and the new lift that services this terrain is installed
  • 2023-24 Winter: Pioneer Ridge/Fish Creek Canyon opens to the public.

What upgrade or addition are you the most excited about?
