A snowboarder narrowly survived a fast-moving avalanche in Whistler four years ago thanks to an avalanche airbag pack, and a whole lot of luck.

The commentator in this video clearly doesn’t know a lot about backcountry safety, but there’s no doubt that the airbag helped to prevent the boarder from getting buried.

I just can’t even fathom how scary it would be to see the whole bowl face crack and release in front of your eyes.

Thank god he didn’t get buried or slammed into anything from this extremely fast-moving avalanche.
