Deer Mountain in South Dakota, previously known as Mystic Mountain, has been bought by news owners: Gerard and Alec Keating. Black Hills Pioneer reports they plan on reopening the mountain in December of 2022. Their first additions will be a 750-foot long, million-dollar magic carpet to create one of the largest snow tubing runs in the country. There is no word on if they are planning the mountain ski and riding operations, but nearly all infrastructure remains from when the mountain closed after foreclosure in September of 2017.
In order to finance the reopening, one hundred and thirty lots ranging from one to three acres will be offered to the general public starting in July. The resort is located in the Black Hills National Forest, so the views must be great. Deer Mountain closed in 2017 after the owner had to give up the property to a lender.
