The town of Peru, VT could soon be home to a new official snowfall record for the Green Mountain State. If unofficial reports stating the town received 44.8″ of snowfall in 24 hours during last week’s storm are varified it would be a new state record.

The Vermont Agency of Transportation says it is one of the biggest December storms in history. While some areas received 18 to 30 inches, Det. Sgt. Richard King with Ludlow Police Department says the town saw an excess of 44 inches. – NBC

The National Weather Service is currently investigating the snowfall report. If confirmed, last weeks snowfall would eclipse the current state record of 42″ in 24 hours set in 1995 in Jay Peak.
