“I was pretty impressed about how strong these bears are. The doors were shut and the bear opened the door supposedly and the door shut behind him.”

Placer County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a black bear trapped in a car in Colfax last Monday night and the incident was caught on camera. Deputies put a non-lethal round through the windows of the car so the bear could escape but the animal did some serious damage during the 30 minutes it was trapped. A friendly reminder not to leave any food items in your vehicle if you live in bear country. Bears have ultra-powerful noses that can detect the smallest morsel of food and are strong enough to rip a cardoor from its hinges. Consider yourself warned.

“I mean, he really pillaged and destroyed the inside of this rig we’ve had for 12 years that my wife loved. I still love it. Still not getting rid of it. And it’s just something to be aware of that this can happen anywhere.”
