As the good doctor says, there is a clear path to bringing sporting events back online and it involves empty venues, sequestered athletes in spacious hotels and tons of testing. As for professional skiing/snowboarding (alpine/freestyle), I believe these spectatorless protocols could be met quite easily and it comes down to the economics of TV viewership to keep things as close to pre-pandemic status quo for the upcoming season of professional mountain sports.
