Antarctica Looks To Be Bleeding

The White Continent has seen record-breaking temperatures over the past few weeks. These spikes in temperature has caused algae to appear on the snow. The algae, which typically green but turns red as it absorbs heat, normally live in freezing water and lie dormant across the continent.

The blood-red algae behind the phenomenon could kick off a runaway feedback loop of warming, researchers warned.
