“Launching it into the stratosphere Daichi realized quickly that he was going massive and couldn’t slow down his rotation. Instead of over-rotating his backflip, he opted for a double.”

Once you realize Daichi Hara is alright after this spectacular crash at this 2019 Deer Valley dual moguls event, you can start to appreciate how ridiculous his double tuck actually was. Announcer Jonny Moseley comments that Daichi split-second decision was correct and might have saved him from serious injury….when in trouble, tuck for double:

HERE’S HOW FIS EXPLAINED THE LEGENDARY RUN:

“Competing against Brad Wilson in Saturday’s dual moguls semi-finals Daichi Hara just lost his balance and went with full speed into the bottom jump. Launching it into the stratosphere Daichi realized quickly that he was going massive and couldn’t slow down his rotation. Instead of over-rotating his backflip, he opted for a double. And while he couldn’t quite stomped his landing (we honestly don’t know anyone who would land a double backflip in those circumstances), he was soon back on his feet and ready to compete again in the small final. And just like nothing ever happened Daichi stormed through the course again for his second bronze medal of 2019 world championships. What a boss you are Daichi!  P.S. Don’t try this at home kids! “
