Northern Vermont is getting the goods this weekend with a winter storm forecasted to drop over a foot of storm on the Green Mountains. The storm has already begun and should last into this evening.

When all is said and done, widespread totals of 12-18″ are possible near the Champlain Valley.  The storm should produce some great skiing for Saturday and Sunday at Sugarbush, VT.

So grab your Ikon pass and head to Sugarbush, VT this weekend.

…WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EST THIS EVENING…

* WHAT…Moderate to heavy snow and light mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches and ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch.

* WHERE…Orange, Washington, and Caledonia Counties in Vermont.

* WHEN…Until 10 PM EST tonight.

* IMPACTS…Travel will be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact both the morning and evening commutes today.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Light mixed precipitation will continue through the early morning hours before changing over to snow late this morning. Once precipitation changes over to snow, several hours of snowfall rates between 1 and 2 inches per hour will be likely before snow tapers off this evening.

Today: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Temperature falling to around 14 by 5pm. Wind chill values as low as -8. Windy, with an east wind 14 to 19 mph becoming northwest 25 to 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 9 to 13 inches possible.
Tonight: Snow, mainly before midnight. Low around 2. Wind chill values as low as -18. Very windy, with a northwest wind 40 to 45 mph decreasing to 29 to 34 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Saturday: A 20 percent chance of snow before 9am. Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 5. Wind chill values as low as -19. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 24 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around -10. Wind chill values as low as -26. Northwest wind 7 to 17 mph.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 22. Southwest wind 11 to 18 mph.
