The resort original lodge was built in 1960. It housed an upper mountain restaurant that served 300,000-400,000 hunger skiers and snowboarders per season. The new lodge will be a whopping 10,000sqft designed in the classic Adirondack great camp architectural style. The new facilities will feature a massive vaulted ceiling and a wraparound viewing deck.
Phase one of the two-part reconstruction project is targeted for completion in November 2020. Phase two should be completed a year later. The project is the 26th proposal of Cuomo’s upcoming State of the State address. Whiteface is run by the state’s Olympic Regional Development Authority and hosts major alpine ski events and serves as a U.S. Olympic training site.
