If you’re planning a ski trip to Vail or Beaver Creek this holiday season, make sure you’re ready for your bank account to take a hit. A one-day lift ticket bought at a ticket window this holiday season at one of the Colorado ski resorts will cost you a whopping $219. That’s a 5% increase over last season.

Competing Colorado ski resort, Aspen Skiing Co. will be charging $184 per day if purchased in advance, but they have yet to release their walk-up price.

Part of the high ticket price is a strategy to push people towards the purchase of an EPIC pass, which will give you a full season of skiing for $989. At that price, you need to ski just 5 days to make your money back on your pass.
