Cataloochee Ski Area, NC was the first ski resort east of the Mississippi to open for the 2019/20 ski season. Cataloochee officially kicked off their ski season at 8:30 am on Nov. 3, just two hours before Killington, VT opened.
The ski hill opened with skiing on three slopes from mid-station down with a base of 2-8 inches.
Cataloochee Ski Area will reopen Nov. 9. Good snowmaking conditions will allow for the ski hill to continue to make snow this week.
