With a Hurricane Dorian currently churning off the East Coast, it seemed a good time that we all take stock on our emergency supplies. Things like medications and food are obvious to have a standby short term supply of but temporary off-grid power and water purification may not be top of mind.

Here’s a little kit by BioLite that is geared towards apartment dwellers (2-4 people) to get you through the initial phases of a disaster situation. They also have family kits and one for a single person. This is not an advertisement, its a conversation starter. Good food for thought and hopefully it will inspire you to will update your current supplies and be better squared away if shit hits the fan:

“Kit Includes a packable solar microgrid (SolarHome 620), two rechargeable headlamps (HeadLamp 330), two solar lights (SunLight), and a LifeStraw personal water filter.”

Here’s a nice little infographic that you might use to start thinking about making a kit of your own.
